My name is Alex Wright and I am a Freelance Journalist and Copywriter based in Reigate, Surrey and London who specialises in writing about business, sport and travel.
Experience is everything in the writing game and I have it by the bucket load, having worked for a range of leading UK and international newspapers, magazines and online publications, including The Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror, The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent and The Sunday Times. I have also written company websites, reports, advertorials, blogs and newsletters, and run email and social media marketing campaigns for my clients.
Proven track record
As a Journalist, I know how to write a compelling story and get to the heart of the matter. Among my biggest achievements was running the business desk of Bermuda’s daily national newspaper, The Royal Gazette. In my role as Deputy Business Editor I built contacts, sourced, researched and wrote stories with pictures and then edited them on the page. Such was my success that I helped increase the paper’s circulation to more than 16,000 and its daily online readership to more than 200,000.
Added to that, I broke several exclusive stories and launched new employment, motoring and technology sections in the paper. I also instigated The Top 10 Employers in Bermuda in sister publication The Bottom Line magazine, a prestigious annual awards ceremony and feature recognising the best employers in Bermuda. All of these brought in significant new revenue to the business.
Here’s what you get
My work on local and national newspapers has given me a sharp news sense, enabling me to quickly identify an angle for a story and follow up on it, presenting it in an easy to understand format.
Working on magazines and websites has also enabled me to develop my own unique writing style and specialise in complex subjects such as insurance and financial services.
